I have read numerous articles Re: Dyazide® and elevated glucose — do you have any information?

Thiazide Diuretics - Effects on Blood Glucose

Yes, thiazide diuretics (such as hydrochlorothiazide, also known as HCTZ, as well as Dyazide) have been associated with elevated glucose levels in some people. However, a recent study reported in Diabetes Care, 2004 found no increased risk of diabetes in patients who used any of the antihypertensive medications, including thiazide diuretics. It is very individual, and generally a doctor would decide if the effect were significant enough to switch you to another medication. Naturally I would recommend you discuss this further with your doctor. In addition, you could ask your pharmacist for more information about thiazide diuretics.
