You refer to glucose measurements in mg/dL, but my country uses mmol/L. How can I get the equivalent mmol/L?

Cortisone Can Raise Blood Glucose

I am getting a very high reading from my meter after receiving a steroid (i.e. cortisone) injection in my spine for a disc problem. I wondered if this is a true reading or elevated because of the steroids. I am 62 years old and have type 2 diabetes which is usually well-controlled with oral meds. My last A1C test was about 6. My meter hasn't been checked since I got it but my wife’s meter is also reading my glucose higher than usual.

Data Management Benefits

I see my doctor every 3 months but he only looks at my last 1-2 weeks of readings. Those results do not always represent what my 3 months have been like. I understand my doctor is busy but I wish he would look at more of my readings--otherwise, why should I bother testing all the time? I am not on any medication but my glucose numbers are not yet where my doctor wants them. He might put me on pills"

Driving and Hypoglycemia

How low can your blood sugar go before you go unconscious? I have had several episodes where I passed out due to low blood sugar. I even once wrecked my truck because I blacked out and ran off the road after driving 4 miles. Luckily I was the only car involved. When the paramedics came, they checked my blood sugar and it was 23. How low can it go before you can’t come out of it?

Fear of Hypoglycemia

I have been taking both NPH and Regular insulin for about 3 years now, and a couple of months ago I suffered a hypoglycemic episode and now I am afraid to take the insulin. Is there anything I can do to get over this fear and is this fear irrational?

I have been controlling my carb intake and have lost 40 lbs. Why do I have a surge in my blood glucose level between bedtime and my first morning reading, from 126 to 165? How can this happen after 8 hours of sleep and fasting?
