I have read about your new meters that don't require coding. How can that be? I thought with your FreeStyle Flash® meter, for example, that you needed to always match the code in the meter with the code on the vial of strips or it wouldn't be accurate.

The FreeStyle Lite® and FreeStyle Freedom Lite® blood glucose monitoring systems differ from the FreeStyle Freedom® and FreeStyle Flash® systems in that they are pre-programmed with only one calibration code—think of it as a "fixed" code. The code is locked into the meter, which is then able to read only test strips with stripes that have a corresponding code.

All FreeStyle® and FreeStyle Lite test strips are manufactured the same way; however, FreeStyle Lite test strips are programmed with this single, fixed code. As a result, the FreeStyle Freedom Lite and FreeStyle Lite meters will function only with a test strip that corresponds to this fixed code. This removes the need for you to change codes with each new test-strip lot and explains why FreeStyle Lite test strips will not work with older version FreeStyle meters.
